2003 - Inkjet Printing Comes Of Age

Wide-format inkjet printers had been around for a long time, seemingly forever, but from our business point of view they had never really made the grade until now. Outdoor print durability was the first thing we looked for in any printer purchased. The power of the sun can turn a beautiful looking poster into a blank piece of paper within weeks if not days. Ink developments have been key to the gradual improvement in print durability over the years and new eco-solvent inkjet printers were now coming on the market. The best of these new printers made our previous ‘all-star’ Gerber machines redundant by reducing both labour and material costs, improving print quality and further increasing productivity. Consequently, we purchased two of these inkjet machines to replace the old Gerber thermal-wax print work horses.
